While beloved label founders Jim Nash and Dannie Flesher are both deceased and the once-groundbreaking label itself is but a distant memory, it brings a joyous tear to our eye to announce that the Metro is throwing a two-day celebration of all things Wax Trax! on April 15 and 16.
We at Superior St./Knox Avenue are proud to be one of the many cool sponsors of this once-in-a-lifetime event. The two-day shindig will feature performances from the likes of Front 242, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, and members of Revolting Cocks and KMFDM also scheduled to appear. Additionally, a reunion set by Rights Of The Accused is being hyped, although we have no idea what ROTA have to do with Wax Trax!, as they never recorded for the label as far as we know.
Sadly, the person most responsible for truly putting Wax Trax! on the map, Ministry's Al Jourgenson, is not taking part in the tribute. Instead, former partner Paul Barker will be teaming with Chris Connelly and Luc Van Acker to perform songs from the RevCo catalog.
Jourgenson being a no-show should not deter anyone who was a fan of the Lincoln Avenue store or the label from attending, as there is bound to be some industrial-strength grooving taking place on the Metro stage.
And, let's face it, if you do plan on attending, you best plan on getting your tickets as soon as they go on-sale at noon on Saturday...as in tomorrow...via etix.com.
