The Return of Matthew Leone and Madina Lake, April 23 at Metro

On an unassuming evening last June, Matthew Leone came to the aid of what he thought was a woman in need of protection from a man who turned out to be her husband, Justin Pivec. His kindness was rewarded not with thanks, but with a severe beating by Pivec before the couple walked back into their house, leaving Leone seriously injured in the street.

The extent of Leone's injuries were such that there was great concern that he might never recover from his injuries, but, while he may never fully recover, Leone has made a miraculous comeback and is set to take the stage for the first time since the incident, with his band Madina Lake on April 23 at the Metro.

This comes as glorious news to those of us whose heart went out to Matthew upon hearing the news of the attack. Those who know Matthew have been quick to say that coming to the aid of a total stranger is typical Matthew. We at The Shit send our best wishes to Matthew as he returns to the stage.

We also send our worst wishes to scum bag Justin Pivec who remains a free man, but who will return to court on April 27 when, one would hope, the judge will throw the book at him. Literally.
