This is David Haynes behind his custom oak Yamaha drum kit. It's obvious to anyone with eyes, or ears, that Haynes' has great feel and some serious chops. It's enough to make you wonder why he isn't a household name, or at least an in-demand session musician.
But, in the world of "finger drumming", Haynes is an absolute legend. I mean, his nickname is "Fingers", for crying out loud.
This is what I'm talking about...
The clip opens with a brief shot of Haynes on drums, but :20 in, he switches to, well, his fingers, and proceeds to go to town on a set of drum pads and creates not only the sound of a live drum kit, but the playability and showmanship. You completely forget that he's not using his feet for the cymbal and kick drum work.
