Ingrid Michaelson leans in for a special show at Chicago Theatre. |
Straight from the "How can we miss 'em if they won't stay gone" Dept, Alabama, aka the most successful country band in history, is back from an all-too-brief hiatus. While the group has parted ways with Mark Herndon, going so far as to say that he was never an official member of the band (ouch), they're now touring in support of their latest compilation Alabama And Friends, which features Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line, Kenny Chesney, Trisha Yearwood, Rascal Flatts and others. If that's not enough, the band's new collection of hymns, Angels Among Us, is available exclusively at Cracker Barrel restaurants!
Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell at City Winery May 10, tix go on sale Thursday March 26 at NOON.
Seeing a band like Alabama play Enormodomes while two national treasures like Harris and Crowell play mid-size clubs might lead most to shake their heads, but when you actually see Emmylou and Rodney perform in such surroundings as the esteemed City Winery, you quickly realize that you'd have it no other way. These are artists whose musical gifts are best appreciated in such intimate settings and, for that reason alone, those who continue to read raves about these two career artists but have yet to see either in-concert really should make a point to not miss this show.
Ingrid Michaelson and Jukebox The Ghost at Chicago Theatre May 24, tix go on sale Friday March 27 at 10AM
There just aren't enough complimentary adjectives available in the English language to describe the music of Michaelson, whose latest collection Lights Out, sees her collaborating with the likes of Mat Kearney, A Great Big World, and Greg Laswell (aka Mr. Ingrid Michaelson). Not to be missed!
Of Monsters And Men at Riviera Theatre on May 12, tix go on sale Friday March 17 at 10AM.
It used to be that if you told your friends that you were going to see an Icelandic folk pop band, they'd have chuckled and told you to say hello for them to the five other people attending the show. Oh, but how you're having the last laugh now as your friends will actually want to come with you to see Of Monsters and Men now that their "Little Talks" became a mega-hit here in the States and all over the globe. This date will actually see the band promoting their new album, Beneath The Sun, which isn't out until June, meaning those who attend the show get to hear the band's new music before the rest of the planet and then brag about it on Facebook and Instagram!
Tame Impala at Riviera Theatre on May 15, tix are SOLD-OUT!
Nothing says "Holy shit!" like a band whose show sells out more than a month prior, but that's just how amazing these Aussie retro-rockers are at the moment. Word has it a new album is due soon, as a new song "Let It Happen" was leaked earlier this month. Either way, this is a show not to be missed. Tix are long gone, though, so maybe hit Craigslist and let a scalper separate you from your cash...it'll be worth it.
