Sure, most of us are still munching on Halloween candy, but if my jumping the gun on the holiday music means that the first Christmas song you hear this year is Prince's 1984 ode to a lover who died of pneumonia on Christmas Day, then how bad can it be?
With Prince's unfortunate passing in April 2016, a lot of truly amazing video footage and bootleg recordings have not only been uploaded to YouTube, but managed to stay there. One such clip is this 22-minute audio-only recording of Prince rehearsing "Another Lonely Christmas" with the Revolution.
You can hear Prince calling out the chord changes and directing his band, giving you an intimate glimpse into how most Prince songs took shape at a time when he and the band were at the absolute top of their game.
The song would see release as the B-side to "I Would Die For You", the final Top 10 hit from Purple Rain, but was also released on its own, as indicated by the photo above, grabbed from a current eBay auction you can visit by clicking the image (seller has five copies available for $9 each, including shipping).
