The film's production crew had gone so far as to create a number of replicas of Howe's guitar to be used during the filming of the scene. Upon hearing that the Yardbirds were suddenly available to shoot the scene, Antonioni dispensed with The In Crowd, but the replica guitars that had been built for Howe remained and were used to shoot the scene.
