Remix Of The Day: Cheap Trick's 'Younger Girls'!

While it might not be politically correct to be singing about "Younger Girls" in the year 2018, a great tune is a great tune and, thus, we found ourselves in the mood to remix this nifty little gem from Cheap Trick's 1983 Todd Rundgren-produced effort, Next Position Please.

While the album features arguably the band's most consistent set of tunes during what was an otherwise patchy decade for the band, what has always bothered this fan was the album's overly thin final mix, which left many of the songs devoid of the trademark Cheap Trick punch.

One surmises that the band was as bummed about this album's final mix as we were because their next effort, 1985's Standing On The Edge, was an overly bombastic arena-rock feast for the ears that also saw the band sampling James Brown as well as using synths and drum machines on a number of tracks.

Without going to crazy extremes, we set out to recover as much of Cheap Trick's live punch as possible in hopes of delivering a remix that reveals as much of the song's sonic power.
