Anyone who writes about music gets a lot of PR pitches in their email and, while I can tune out most of' 'em, one surefire way to get me to listen to your new album is to name-drop Ministry's Al Jourgenson or Cheap Trick's Robin Zander.
L.A. rocker Michael Ciravolo, a.k.a. President of Schecter Guitar Research, who has also done lengthy stints in Michael Aston's Gene Loves Jezebel and Human Drama, did what I would have done and called both Jourgenson and Zander to take part in his first album under the name Beauty In Chaos, entitled Finding Beauty In Chaos.
Jourgenson, as one would expect, goes all-in on a spirited cover of T. Rex's "20th Century Boy", for which Uncle Al even took the time to appear in the video.
Zander, meanwhile, turns in a soulful vocal performance on "Drifting Away" that no doubt gave him the opportunity to flex some different vocal muscles than on recent Trick efforts. The song isn't that far removed from something you might find on a Trick album, but singing in a lower register reveals some nuances we Trick fans don't get to hear all that often.
If that's not enough, guest spots by The Cure's Simon Gallup, the Mission's Wayne Hussey, Doug Pinnick of King's X, ex-Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, and Ice-T round out the album, which was released on November 30th.
