On this date in 1982, the US Festival (the brainchild of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak) got underway in San Bernardino, California, featuring bands such as Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, The Police, The Cars, Talking Heads, The Kinks, Ramones, B52's, The English Beat, Gang Of Four, The Grateful Dead, Pat Benatar and others.

In 1990, R.E.M. began sessions in Bearsville, NY for their album Out Of Time.

In 2006, hundreds of altered copies of Paris Hilton's debut Warner Brothers album show up in UK record stores. All are part of a publicity stunt by artist Banksy, who crops photos of Hilton to make her appear to be topless, or to have the head of a dog.

In 2007, on the final date of their tour with Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way married Mindless Self Indulgence bassist Lyn Z in Colorado.
