We at Superior St. are proud to present the return of The Afghan Whigs for a two-night stand at Metro. The band reunited earlier this year after an eleven-year hiatus for an appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon prior to a UK festival gig at All Tomorrow's Parties and a string of shows leading up to their high-profile appearance at Lollapalooza this past summer.
Despite high expectations from the band's hardcore cult following, the shows received universal rave reviews and many who saw them at Lollapalooza felt that they turned in the most explosive set of the entire festival.
The band will no doubt bring that same intensity to their shows this Friday and Saturday at Metro. While tickets for the October 27 shows (Saturday) sold out in days, there are a few tickets remaining for the band's Friday night show.
Since we at Superior St. have been privy to some of the band's recent rehearsals, we can tell you in no uncertain terms that the band is firing on all cylinders and that if you're in the mood for a night of music that is equal parts sophistication and muscle, soul and rock & roll, tension and release, these shows are not to be missed.
