From the "Hell Just Froze Over" Dept. comes word that original Guns 'n Roses bassist Duff McKagan is rejoining the band for the summer while his replacement, Tommy Stinson, returns to The Replacements for a series of summer festival shows, including Coachella later this month.
Whether McKagan's return signals a change-of-heart on behalf of singer Axl Rose to reconcile with other original members remains to be seen, but an inside source says that Izzy Stradlin is also expected to appear as a "guest performer" with the band.
As for Stinson's return to The Replacements, the bassist himself has expressed an interest in seeing the legendary Minneapolis band return to the studio to cut a new album and reports that both he and Westerberg have been stockpiling songs for just such an occasion.
Additionally, an announcement of additional tour dates by The Replacements is expected soon. All in all, this looks like a win/win for fans of both bands.
