One of the cool things about the Chicago music scene is the growing frequency of shows where local bands become one of their own favorite bands for the night. It started at local clubs around Halloween and has now grown to become a year-round theme that more and more clubs are exploring.
One such club is the esteemed Cabaret Metro (yes, I just said "Cabaret Metro"), where we at Superior St. are proud to present Sons of The Silent Age, who will be playing the music of David Bowie on Friday, January 11th. What makes this band so different is that they in early 2012 for the sole purpose of celebrating Bowie. Okay, that isn't all that makes them different. That other thing would be that the members of this band comprise a virtual who's-who of Chicago modern rockers, featuring Chris Connelly of Revolting Cocks/Ministry fame, former Smashing Pumpkins drummer Matt Walker, who just ended a six-year stint as Morrissey's drummer, and a gal by the name of Shirley Manson, who actually contacted Connelly when she first caught wind of the project and demanded an audition.
Also lending their considerable talents to the night's festivities are The Waco Brothers (performing the music of T. Rex) and Death On The Autobahn (as Kraftwerk).
We at Superior St. sponsor a number of shows each year, but this is one we're incredibly proud to be a part of, as proceeds from the show will go to benefit The Pablove Foundation and Rock For Kids. Tickets are $19 in advance and, believe it or not, are STILL AVAILABLE (but not for long, we suspect).
So what are you waiting for?
